“Woofstock” dog festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

North America’s largest outdoor dog festival came back to Toronto last weekend for its fifth year. It ran from the 9th of June to the 10th of June at Toronto’s historical St. Lawrence Market. A Wikinews reporter was there on Sunday to report on some of the events that happened on the last day.

The “Woofstock” dog festival attracted as many as 140,000 people with their dogs. The festival had tons of accessories, sold under tents, to buy for dogs; food, toys, designer clothes, and more. About 400 vendors and exhibitors were there to promote their products, which also gave private dog companies or groups a chance to show their new products. The local SPCA and some animal rescues were under tents answering questions from visitors. While walking, all visitors could see the CN Tower and other very tall buildings.

One of the local TV stations, Citytv, was there. They hosted a live event at the show which was broadcast on TV. People came up on the stage and asked questions regarding their dogs and the host and co-host answered them.

A man, who called himself the “Chalk Master”, drew two pictures on pavement with chalk. He did it for free but donations were welcome. One was a picture of a girl’s head beside a dog’s head, and another with a wolf.

“Hello Humans. I’ve been invited here to provide your eyeball(s), with some pretty colours. I don’t get paid as I work this weekend strictly for tips… so, if you like what you see please make a DONATION. If you don’t like it simply reach into the pocket of the person next to you and give me their money. CHALK MASTER.”

A contest called “Canada’s top dog” had its own tent with a professional photographer taking pictures of dogs behind a white screen; the winning photo is to be published on the cover of “Puppy and dog basics” magazine.

Large “Gourmet” dog bones were also served from a cart and table.

Next year’s festival is expected to be bigger and better with even more attractions.

Top Utility Knives Cut Like A Machete And Chop Like An Axe With The Woodsmans Pal

The Woodsman’s Pal is a 100% USA-made machete that will provide a lifetime of service. The knife, designed by a woodsman, can tackle tasks such as pruning, chopping, splitting wood, clearing brush and blazing trails despite its convenient, compact size. The Woodman’s Pal is not a new knife style-it’s been time-tested since 1941, military-issued from World War II all the way through Desert Storm. Once you try the Woodsman’s Pal, you may find it replaces all other utility knives you may own!

Lightweight (23 oz) and compact (17″ long), the Woodsman’s Pal serves as an extension of your arm. The length approximates that of the human forearm from elbow to knuckle, allowing you to tackle tough outdoors tasks as well as precision cutting, unlike most other utility knives. Split wood easily with the Woodsman’s Pal, or use the precision angle for skinning. The beveled edge is designed to cut through a tree limb 1½ inches in diameter with a single sweep. The Woodsman’s Pal features a hook that’s designed to grab, pull and cut brush, vines and more-simply sweep the knife back and forth to clear a trail. The knife also features an unsharpened toe for injury protection.

The Woodsman’s Pal is available in four varieties-Woodsman’s Pal Classic, Woodsman’s Pal Premium, Woodsman’s Pal Compact and Woodsman’s Pal Long Reach. The classic model is 10.5″ long; 16.5″ overall with a 6″ ash wooden handle. The premium model-the military model-features a leather grip with a hand guard that’s welded to the tang. The design of the Woodsman’s Pal handle allows you to easily shift the knife from hand to hand, without losing any maneuverability. The Woodsman’s Pal Compact weighs 23 oz and is 14.5″ long, making it extra compact and convenient for backpackers and Scouts. It features the same leather grip and steel hand guard as the Woodsman’s Pal Premium model. The Woodsman’s Pal Long Reach features a 22″ long handle, but only weighs 14 oz. It’s perfect for cutting through leafy vegetation, rather than heavy-duty brush and vines like the other Woodsman’s Pal models. The longer handle allows for increased leverage while chopping. All varieties feature high carbon steel blades that provide maximum flexibility in both warm and cold weather.

The Woodsman’s Pal does all the work of most utility knives, but also works well to trim branches, clear trails, chop wood and more. When it comes to more detailed work like whittling sticks into points, shaving bark or splitting wood, the Woodsman’s Pal outperforms other machetes and utility knives. If you’re looking for a compact, well-built, all-in-one knife, add the Woodsman’s Pal to your collection of outdoor gear.

Three killed, three others injured in stabbing attack in Reading, UK

On Saturday evening in Forbury Gardens in Reading, Berkshire, UK shortly before 19:00 local time (1800 UTC), a mass stabbing killed three people and injured three others. A 25-year-old man was arrested by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of murder. Reports named him on Sunday as Reading resident and Libyan national Khairi Saadallah. Police also announced on Sunday morning they were treating it as a terrorist incident.

The Daily Telegraph cited a security source that mental health may be a factor in the attack. Witnesses, according to The Telegraph, said a man approached and attacked a group of middle-aged men, using a knife. Thames Valley Police soon arrived and detained the man, later identified as Khairi Saadallah. Saadallah came to the UK a number of years ago, after the Libyan Civil War. A counter terror police raid removed various items from Saadallah’s flat, amongst them reportedly a circular saw.

The head of the UK’s counter terror police, Neil Basu, on Sunday said the police found nothing inconsistent with the attacker acting alone. He also said there is no suggestion of specific increased threat towards people in crowded places from terrorists. A Black Lives Matter protest had taken place in Forbury Gardens a few hours before the attack, but Basu also stated this was not connected to the crime.

Helpful Tips For Finding Home Loans In Tucson

June 6th, 2021 in International Tax Specialists | No Comments

October, 2013 byadmin

Finding Home Loans in Tucson does not have to be a daunting experience. If you plan well in advance, you can be ready to sail through the process. Your planning should begin as soon as you first begin thinking of buying a home. This is the time to start saving up for your down payment and working on building up your credit score. Even if you have good credit, work to make it excellent. This can save you a substantial amount of money when the time comes to buy your home. The better your credit score, the better your interest rate will be.

There is no doubt about it; saving money for a down payment can be difficult. If you have the ability to move into a less expensive rental home for a year or so beforehand, this is a great way to save more money. Save the difference that you would have paid for the more expensive place, and do not touch it. Pretend it is not even there. If you are able to move in with family for several months, you can save even more money for your down payment. Do not forget about the closing costs. This is more money that you will need at the time of the closing; it can be several thousand dollars, so be prepared.

Get all of your paperwork in order. There are plenty of hoops to jump through when you are going for a mortgage. Make it easier on yourself by being ready. You will need proof of your current income, banking information including bank statements, and a couple of years worth of tax returns. If you already have this paperwork at hand, you will save yourself a lot of stress during the application process.

As the time approaches for you to actively begin looking for home loans in Tucson, shop around. Search for the company that is going to give you the best terms and rates. You may be surprised by the differences you will find from one company to the next. For most people, a home is their largest purchase. It makes sense to look around for the best offer. Ask questions to make sure that you understand the terms and conditions for any loan you are considering. Never sign anything if you have questions that have not been answered to your satisfaction.

See the discussion page for instructions on adding schools to this list and for an alphabetically arranged listing of schools.

Due to the damage by Hurricane Katrina and subsequent flooding, a number of colleges and universities in the New Orleans metropolitan area will not be able to hold classes for the fall 2005 semester. It is estimated that 75,000 to 100,000 students have been displaced. [1]. In response, institutions across the United States and Canada are offering late registration for displaced students so that their academic progress is not unduly delayed. Some are offering free or reduced admission to displaced students. At some universities, especially state universities, this offer is limited to residents of the area.
