Orange County Kitchen Remodel Thins You Need To Consider

So you are planning to give your kitchen a makeover? Looking for the places where you can get the right furniture? Well, you can find endless furniture options once you step out in the market, but before you go ahead and make those choices I would like to share some words of wisdom with you that will help you to make the right decision with yourorange county kitchen remodel plans.

So without further ado, let me start with those tips –

Go only for a seasoned dealer – one of the first things that you need to consider before investing your money in furniture is to look for a dealer who has been in the field for long. Experience is one of the first signs of the expertise of a professional. After all, if the professional has managed to sustain his work in this breakneck competition, he/she is definitely worth your time and money. Therefore, always give preference to someone who has been in the field for long as compared to a noob.

Decide what you are looking for – as already stated, once you are out there in the market you are definitely going to stuck in the problem of plenty. This is the reason that the best idea is to decide what it is that you are looking for. There are separate options available for contemporary furniture, while there are also stores that offer only the traditional furnishing options. It is entirely up to you to decide. However, to avoid thee confusion once you enter the market it is always a good idea to decide beforehand.

Set a budget aside – most importantly, keep this in mind that buying furniture can cost you quite a lot. And, looking at the overwhelming number of options out there it can be easy to go over the board and spend more than what you intended to. So, it is always a good idea to plan your budget in advance and spare a fixed amount for the same. After all, you have to go ahead with the remodeling process to make yourself happy not sad because of the excess money that you might spend if not planned properly.

Take a look at the internet – and, when it comes to researching for options and all the points mentioned above, going online can prove to be just the right idea. You can find plenty of online shopping furniture options on the internet that can help you in not only making the best product selection, but at the same time save you quite a lot of your money as well.

Elephants Dream: Free content 3D film released to the Internet

Friday, May 19, 2006

The 3D animated short film Elephants Dream, formerly known as Project Orange, was released to the Internet yesterday. The film is available under the Creative Commons Attribution License, allowing anyone to download, modify and distribute it. The 10-minute film has been called “the first open source movie” by NewsForge. Not only is the movie itself free content, even the computer files containing the 3D models used in the film are available under the same terms.

The project was first announced one year ago and was jointly produced by the Blender Foundation and the Netherlands Media Art Institute. The film tells the story of Emo and Proog, two men trapped inside a surreal machine world. Only freely available open source software was used to create the movie. Most of the work was done using Blender, a 3D modelling and rendering tool. The Blender Foundation is selling an extended edition on DVD, which includes subtitles in 34 languages, a Making Of documentary, commentary tracks, and all files used to create the movie.

In spite of the successful completion of the project, the Blender Foundation “has no intention to grow or expand into a company or studio” according to the project website. “Instead, the Foundation aims at endorsing and supporting activities within (educational) institutes, universities and companies.”

“Woofstock” dog festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

“Woofstock” dog festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

North America’s largest outdoor dog festival came back to Toronto last weekend for its fifth year. It ran from the 9th of June to the 10th of June at Toronto’s historical St. Lawrence Market. A Wikinews reporter was there on Sunday to report on some of the events that happened on the last day.

The “Woofstock” dog festival attracted as many as 140,000 people with their dogs. The festival had tons of accessories, sold under tents, to buy for dogs; food, toys, designer clothes, and more. About 400 vendors and exhibitors were there to promote their products, which also gave private dog companies or groups a chance to show their new products. The local SPCA and some animal rescues were under tents answering questions from visitors. While walking, all visitors could see the CN Tower and other very tall buildings.

One of the local TV stations, Citytv, was there. They hosted a live event at the show which was broadcast on TV. People came up on the stage and asked questions regarding their dogs and the host and co-host answered them.

A man, who called himself the “Chalk Master”, drew two pictures on pavement with chalk. He did it for free but donations were welcome. One was a picture of a girl’s head beside a dog’s head, and another with a wolf.

“Hello Humans. I’ve been invited here to provide your eyeball(s), with some pretty colours. I don’t get paid as I work this weekend strictly for tips… so, if you like what you see please make a DONATION. If you don’t like it simply reach into the pocket of the person next to you and give me their money. CHALK MASTER.”

A contest called “Canada’s top dog” had its own tent with a professional photographer taking pictures of dogs behind a white screen; the winning photo is to be published on the cover of “Puppy and dog basics” magazine.

Large “Gourmet” dog bones were also served from a cart and table.

Next year’s festival is expected to be bigger and better with even more attractions.

Cure Cancer Today At The Cellular Level

Submitted by: Dr Laurence Magne

From the desk of Dr Magne, author of Cancer Free For Life.

In the 17th century, the philosopher and scientist Descartes proposed the separation of the mind from the body. Descartes was encouraged by the Pope that he could pursue the study of human anatomy within the domain of science, as long as he left the study of the soul or mind to the church.

So began the western s world separation of the body and mind. That disconnection is now being remedied by modern science. Today studies by researchers in the emerging field of Psycho Neuro Immunology, PNI for short, have hard data explaining the mind/body connection. The same proof is now emerging from the field of quantum physics, and the more we research the mechanisms of the universe, the more we realize that we are made of the same primordial stuff and energy, and that all is connected, including the mind and the body.

How does the mind/body connection work? It is explained in the complex pathways that run between the brain and the body s nervous, endocrine, circulatory, and immune systems. We are literally wired by the brain, but it is our emotions and thoughts that trigger the complex chain of activities that create physical manifestations such as increased blood pressure and heart rate, depletion of immune functions, and disruption of the body s resting state.

Science has shown that the brain signals the immune system via receptors on the surface of immune system cells, which accept chemical neurotransmitters released by the nervous system. These breakthrough studies have traced the body/mind connection to the level of cellular biology. Some cellular communication has been translated, but the full body language has yet to be unlocked.

How does this information affect us in our everyday lives? Stress is one area in which we can clearly see the body/mind connection. Subject a person to enough stress, and that stress will manifest in the body through nerve-fibre chemicals that tell immune cells what to do. The body expresses the stress as headaches, rashes, irritable bowel, hypertension, insomnia, or pain. Eventually, the physical effects of long-term stress may lead to cancer, heart attack, or other chronic conditions. The reverse is also true as chemicals released by immune system cells affect the brain. For example, when the body is fighting an illness, our minds often become drowsy.

The good news is that while our emotions and thoughts can play a role in making us sick, we can also use them to help make us well. Better still, our minds can potentially keep us from getting ill in the first place. The mind has a tremendous power to heal or harm. How you use this power is up to you: your body does respond to the way you think, feel and act at every moment of every day.

There are some simple ways to use the mind/body connection to benefit health:

Pay attention to your inner life. Don t dwell on fear and negative thoughts. your perception or belief about your environment is more important than its reality.

Express yourself in appropriate ways. Learn to recognize your emotions and what s causing them. At times we may need the assistance of therapists, doctors and spiritual advisors to help us understand ourselves better.

Establish social relationships. People involved with family, friends, and community seem to live longer, healthier lives.

Develop a positive mental outlook and sense of humour, Pollyanna was right. Laugh heartily at least once a day. Judge less and love more.

Seek spiritual fulfillment. Examine and draw upon what gives you meaning in life.

Connect with animals. Our pets keep us in touch with our basic needs. Numerous studies show connecting with pets is a significant factor in good health.

Learn meditation, visualization, prayer, yoga, hypnosis, or biofeedback. Find which of these is right for you.

Repeat positive affirmations to yourself, such as I am in perfect balance. I bless my body with love. These can reverse the changes brought on by stress.

Get regular exercise, enough sleep, and maintain good nutrition. Why? Aside from the obvious health benefits, societal beliefs list exercise, sleep and proper nutrition as the way to be healthy. When we engage in these activities, our perception is that what we are dong is good for us. These practices change our attitudes and reduce stress and anxiety.

Do not self-medicate with excess food, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Short-term relief can lead to long-term problems.

One dead after bus and bicycle crash in Hampshire, England

One dead after bus and bicycle crash in Hampshire, England
August 12th, 2022 in Uncategorized | No Comments

Monday, July 19, 2010

A person has died after being involved in a collision between a bus and a bicycle in Hampshire in the south of England, United Kingdom. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was cycling in the seaside resort of Southsea when a number 700 Stagecoach single-decker bus, which was travelling from Brighton to Southsea, collided with her bicycle at approximately 1315 BST (1215 UTC) on Saturday. A helicopter transported the woman to Southampton General Hospital, where she died at approximately 1630 BST (1530 UTC) on the same day.

None of the occupants of the bus were injured. The 53-year-old bus driver has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Hampshire Constabulary is requesting any witnesses to the accident to contact them. PC Phil Hunt also mentioned: “We are also trying to trace the passengers, who left the scene before we could speak to them.”

The road traffic accident occurred in an area where Portsmouth City Council had been intending to place a new cycle route, but the plans to do so were cancelled last week. The plans, which would have cost £250,000 (US$382,373, €296,481, A$441,126), were said to have been cancelled due to financial difficulties.

Portsmouth Cycle Forum vice chair Jon Spencer has stated: “Sadly, we’ve had to wait less than a week for a brutal illustration of why we need this cycle route.” The vice chair of the local cycling group continued: “The road at Clarence Pier is very narrow, very crowded by parked cars and very busy. It is the most popular part of the seafront but at the moment it is a no-go area for cyclists. The city council are obviously happy for this to remain the case.”

This terrible accident is yet another reminder that large vehicles, busy traffic and cyclists are not a happy mix.

John Holland, the chair of the Forum, wrote on PompeyBUG, a local cycling Internet forum: “Portsmouth Cycle Forum is very sad to learn of the death in a road accident of a woman cyclist at Clarence Esplanade on Saturday 17 July. Our thoughts lie with her family and friends to whom send our deepest condolences. The cyclist was involved in collision with a bus in the vicinity of Pier Road and Clarence Esplanade, close to Clarence Pier.

“This terrible accident is yet another reminder that large vehicles, busy traffic and cyclists are not a happy mix. Whilst it will be some time before the details are made public, we urge the Portsmouth City Council to press ahead with making this section of our seafront much safer and calmer for all. Almost exactly one year ago, a cyclist was seriously injured Clarence Esplanade when a car reversed blindly from a parking bay into the road.

“Portsmouth City Council is on the verge of postponing Phase 2 of the Southsea Seafront Cycle Route. Had this been in place yesterday then this awful incident might have been avoided. We urge councillors to think again. A safe and segregated cycle route can be built – one which doesn’t loose any car parking, one which doesn’t stop people looking out to sea from their cars, one which doesn’t involve cycling on the promenade. We will be pushing hard for this – we don’t want any more injuries and fatalities on our seafront roads.”

Choices For Vacation Packages To Dominican Republic

August 12th, 2022 in Lunch | No Comments

By Adrianna Noton

Unlike most other Caribbean island holidays, vacation packages to Dominican Republic are not just about sun n’ sand. Instead, DR offers everything from the old world charm of Santo Domingo to spectacular coral reefs, jungles, national parks and some lovely beaches and resorts facing the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts. That’s why DR vacations have to be planned carefully.

Visitors have an opportunity to explore half of the second largest Caribbean island (Hispaniola) and a wealth of destinations and attractions. But it won’t really be possible to see all of it in a weekend or even a week. What most visitors do is book a stay for one destination and try to squeeze in some of the nearby places.

For visitors planning to fly in across the Atlantic, the most popular hotspots are Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Samana. These are all picturesque beach resort destinations. The Punta Cana and Bavaro area on the island’s eastern side has many dive spots for scuba divers looking to explore the coral reef and shallow waters.

It also has 12 superb golf courses, many of them championship courses designed by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Nick Price. A package deal here would likely include access to at least one of the golf courses, if not a full-fledged golf vacation. It would also include scuba diving in the coral reef, for those interested.

Many of the resorts in Punta Cana are all inclusive. This means everything from restaurants offering different cuisines to spas and health clubs, swimming pools, beach access, golf, tennis and water sports. Not to mention luxurious ocean view suites and villas with well stocked mini-bars.

If the package includes flight tickets and airport transfers, there’s not much else left to spend on. Well, maybe a little on shopping, nightclubs, casinos, etc. Moving up north from Punta Cana along the coast brings visitors to a paradise on earth otherwise known as the Bay of Samana.

There are hundreds of beaches fronting crystal clear turquoise waters, a beautiful bay and a coast famed for its humpback whales. Not to mention lush tropical forests, waterfalls, coral reef and national parks. All said and done, a very good way to get back in touch with nature, so a package deal in Samana would have to be a resort getaway for nature lovers.

Further up to the north is Puerto Plata. The airport is conveniently close, and guests will find long stretches of beaches awaiting them. The location also makes it easy to explore nearby destinations like Cabarete, so this would be more along the lines of a traditional tourist beach vacation and sight-seeing package.

Obviously, these are not the only vacation packages to Dominican Republic. There are cultural trips to Santo Domingo, mountain climbing expeditions to Pico Duarte and an isolated getaway to the mangrove lined lagoons and beaches of Isla Saona, to name a few. As mentioned above, it’s difficult to choose… But hopefully this guide will help narrow down the choices based on what visitors want to do while on vacation.

Veteran U.S. attorney appointed to oversee Plame inquiry

Veteran U.S. attorney appointed to oversee Plame inquiry
August 11th, 2022 in Uncategorized | No Comments

Saturday, August 13, 2005

U.S. Dept. of Justice attorney for 40 years, Dave Margolis, was assigned by James Comey on August 12 to take over his position as the acting Deputy Attorney General. The former assistant deputy replaces Comey as the acting boss of Patrick Fitzgerald, the lead prosecutor of the Plame CIA leak case. Comey left the post for the private sector as general council for Lockheed Martin Corp.

Al Martin, ret. Navy Lt. Commander (who testified for Kerry’s Iran-Contra hearings) alleges that when David Margolis was the Domestic Criminal Section Chief, he helped limit the liability of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush in the Iran-Contra affair. Martin is also on record as having alleged that Margolis was part of a “restricted access group” known as RAG-1, which “was first to develop and then to coordinate the CIA’s policy of trafficking in narcotics on a large-scale basis, in order to produce ongoing covert revenue streams pursuant to the aid and sustenance of illegal operations of state,” according to Martin.

President Bush nominated Timothy E. Flanigan for Comey’s job. The Comey departure, without Margolis stepping in, would have left two key posts at the Justice Department unfilled. The head of the Criminal Justice, formerly occupied by Christopher Wray, has been empty since May.

Flanigan is facing tough questioning during his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation process. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) said he is unsure whether he would vote for his confirmation. Flanigan’s role in the aggressive interrogation techniques used on detainees from Afghanistan and Iraq and his ties to lobbyist Jack Abramoff are being probed.

46 illegal Afghan immigrants suffocate in truck in Pakistan

46 illegal Afghan immigrants suffocate in truck in Pakistan
August 10th, 2022 in Uncategorized | No Comments

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Correction — Nov 1, 2013 The article below claims each passenger paid 4000 to 8000 USD. Each paid 30,000 Rupees, equivilent at the time to about US$375.

The bodies of 46 Afghan illegal immigrants who suffocated to death in a container truck Saturday near Quetta, Pakistan, returned home Tuesday.

The Edhi Foundation placed the victim’s bodies into coffins to transport them back to Chaman. Funeral prayers were said before victims left Quetta hospital. “We are taking these dead bodies to Spin Boldak and later these will be flown to Kabul by helicopter. We are thankful to Pakistan government for every help,” said Afghan consul general Daud Mohsini.

Afghan officials received the bodies from The Edhi ambulances and Pakistan police escorts at the Pak-Afghan border Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate). Security was high and traffic was backed up at the border crossing. The bodies were taken to Kandahar then to Kabul before they were laid to rest in their home towns.

Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan dispatched aircraft to Pakistan to bring home the 46 victims. Poor weather grounded the planes, and the bodies were driven back across the border.

Pakistan police found a locked truck packed with approximately 111 Afghan illegal immigrants around 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Quetta on Saturday. The driver had fled the scene where 62 people were initially pronounced dead. Police said that from the strong smell emanating from the truck, the victims may have died days before they were discovered.

45 other people were found unconscious and taken directly to the hospital. At hospital two more migrants died. “The death toll is 46,” said Ghulam Dastagir, a police official.

Wazir Khan Nasir, a senior police official said, “We have been able to talk to some of the people, who were trapped in the container. They were all Afghans in the container and the container was going to Iran, When the condition of people inside the container deteriorated, the driver fled, leaving the container.”

Survivors have reported that a human smuggling racket locked 64 Kabul residents and 37 Spin Boldak residents in the truck container Friday afternoon. The truck’s air conditioning unit stopped working causing the locked passengers to cry out for help which was unheeded by the truck’s driver, and they fell unconscious. However, the loud ruckus caused by the trapped people inside did alert police and local residents to their plight.

The trip had cost each illegal immigrant US$4,000 to 8,000 for the trip. Gul Zameen, a survivor said, “We are all poor and wanted to find jobs in Quetta and Iran.”

The survivors have been charged under the Foreigners Act and some have been detained. Karzai has ordered an investigation and “demanded people avoid dangerous illegal migration and not be deceived by smugglers.” “We’ll go to Pakistan and talk to the survivors to find out what had exactly happened. The culprits will be brought to justice,” said Moheeddin Baluch head of the investigating delegation.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is also investigating. Five suspects believed to be involved in running the human smuggling racket have been arrested.
