Some General Introduction About Equestrian Clothing

These basics equestrian clothing can be purchased online or your local tack shop. Here are some different items you may come across along with a description of their uses.Riding helmet or hat; investing in a quality of a riding hat or helmet is a priority for all riders of any ages. There is always an element of risk when you are riding .Every rider should have a professionally fitted helmet. There is a vast variety of riding helmets to choose from. Ventilated helmets are good for kids. If you are considering trail riding, there are sturdy leather helmets that will last longer and not get scratched or torn.Paddock Boots; these boots are specially designed to prevent your foot from getting caught in the stirrup should get thrown from your horse. Their shape allows your foot to slide easily from the stirrup. Proper paddock boots are much a safety necessity as a riding comfort. They will also give your ankles an adequate support during training.Protective Riding Vests; riding vests are specially designed to protect your vital organs if you fall. They have become mandatory for children at some equestrian centers. You can also talk to the trainer of your child if he suggests that your child needs a protective vest.Riding Breeches; riding breeches or riding pants are not essential for beginners riding. But they will probably make your experience more comfortable. Here is a large variety available online ranging from thin, lightly padded riding tights, to full seats riding breeches. If you bruise easily or feel you need extra padding around, full seat riding breeches may work well for you. They are designed to help you to feel comfortable while riding. These riding breeches are designed to protect your lower legs from the irritation or bruising due to rubbing against the stirrup straps.Gloves; gloves should be worn in cold weather. Most riders prefer unlined doeskin or cowhide. Lined gloves are too bulky. String gloves for wet weather are essential. Sturdy Oxford with low heels may be worn with Jodhpurs. Under no circumstances should the rider wear the sneakers, loafers or heelless foot wears. With such type of shoes the riders foot may by mistake slide.

United States 2003 National Adult Literacy Survey released

Sunday, December 25, 2005

Preliminary results from the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL), released 15 December 2005 by the US National Center for Education Statistics, indicate gains and losses in literacy among minority adults between 1992 and 2003.

The nationally representative study among US adults age 16 and older found the over-all average prose and document literacy remained relatively unchanged, but quantitative literacy improved 8 points (on a scale of 500.) Results among minorities were mixed, with White and Asian/Pacific Islander minorities scoring significantly higher than Hispanic or Black ethnicities; Hispanic subjects in particular had sharp decreases in prose and document literacy (-9% and -8%, respectively) and quantitative illiteracy remained unchanged with 50% of subjects scoring at less than basic literacy levels.

The National Assessment of Adult Literacy is the most comprehensive measure of adult literacy in the USA. The 2003 NAAL, with 19 000 participants, was conducted by the Educational Testing Service, a non-governmental organization which charges for its services.

Queen’s Speech sets out Coalition government’s final year agenda

Queen’s Speech sets out Coalition government’s final year agenda

Friday, June 6, 2014File:Queen Elizabeth II delivering 2013 Queen’s Speech.jpg

Queen Elizabeth II formally reopened Parliament on Wednesday and announced the legislative agenda of the UK government for the final year of the Coalition’s five year term. New measures introduced covered crime, the economy, energy and house building.

The next year of legislative changes would, the speech claimed, “deliver on [the government’s] long-term plan to build a stronger economy and a fairer society”. On economics, it promised the government would continue to lower taxes, produce an updated Charter for Budget Responsibility to “ensure that future governments spend taxpayers’ money responsibly”, and continue reduction of the deficit.

On employment law, the Queen’s Speech announced reduction in employment tribunal delays and plans to try and “improve the fairness of contracts for low paid workers” — a response to “zero-hours” contracts. The Institute of Directors support reforms to zero-hours contracts, specifically by removing “exclusivity” clauses. The speech also announced the introduction of a “collective pension” system similar to schemes in use in the Netherlands.

The government is also to increase penalties on companies that do not pay employees minimum wage, and reform National Insurance contributions by self-employed people. The government also plans to extend the ISA and Premium Bond savings schemes and abolish the 10% tax rate on savings. The speech also promised more house building, and also to introduce legislation to reduce the use of plastic bags.

The speech announced the government would seek to pass a new Serious Crime Bill “to tackle child neglect, disrupt serious organised crime and strengthen powers to seize the proceeds of crime”. Another bill will be introduced to deal with modern slavery and human trafficking and to support victims of these offences. The speech also said the government “will lead efforts to prevent sexual violence in conflict worldwide”.

The Serious Crime Bill would also include an increase in the sentence for those who bring about “cyberattacks which result in loss of life, serious illness or injury or serious damage to national security, or a significant risk thereof”. Under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, these are currently subject to a ten year prison sentence, but the punishment would now risk imprisonment for life. Punishment for cyberattacks that cause “a significant risk of severe economic or environmental damage or social disruption” would increase from the current ten year maximum tariff to fourteen years.

Jim Killock from the Open Rights Group said existing laws already allow effective prosecution of those engaging in cyberattacks.

The speech also announced legislation would be introduced “to provide that where a person acts heroically, responsibly or for the benefit of others, this will be taken into account by the courts”.

Constituents would be able to “recall” an MP who had been found guilty of misconduct under a proposed law that will be debated. The Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith described the current plans as “meaningless” and said voters had been “duped”. The Bill would force a by-election if 10% of voters signed a petition within eight weeks, but only if a Commons committee had decided the MP could be recalled. This latter requirement will make it “impossible to recall anyone” according to Goldsmith.

Business minister Michael Fallon defended the recall proposals: “we have to protect MPs from being recalled by people who just disagree with them[…] What you have to ensure is an MP can’t be hounded out just because people disagree with them back in their constituency.”

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said he agreed with Goldsmith the bill was not perfect, and he wanted “a radical California-style recall” system, but he had settled for a “modest” bill to satisfy “Conservative Party resistance”. Goldsmith claimed Clegg had been “the architect of the current Recall Bill”.

Tim Aker, head of policy for the UK Independence Party, said: “The decision to only offer recall voting on a signed-off-by-Parliament-basis reflects a political class that does not know, does not trust and certainly does not represent its people.”

The speech included measures to make it easier for businesses to engage in hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) of shale gas. The Institute of Directors said laws “must be updated if the UK is to enjoy the benefits of our shale potential”, specifically by scrapping laws on trespass to allow the gas extraction to occur. The British Chamber of Commerce also support such a reform: “While fracking may be unpalatable to some, it is absolutely essential, and business will support legislative measures to exploit Britain’s shale gas deposits”. Activists from Greenpeace fenced off Prime Minister David Cameron’s home in Oxfordshire with a sign reading “We apologise for any inconvenience while we frack under your home”, and delivered a £50 cheque — identified as the maximum compensation suggested for property owners.

Simon Clydedale from Greenpeace UK said of the fracking proposals: “The prime minister is about to auction off over half of Britain to the frackers, including national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty like the Cotswolds. Fracking won’t deliver energy on a meaningful scale for years, if ever, by which time we’ll need to have moved away from dirty fossil fuels and towards high-tech clean power if we’re to head off dangerous climate change.”

Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP, spoke in opposition to the fracking proposals after the Queen’s Speech: “Not only does this bill defy public opinion, it denies people a voice. To allow fracking companies to drill under people’s homes and land without their permission is to ignore public interest in pursuit of the vested interests of a few.” A poll conducted by YouGov found 74% of respondents opposed the plans.

Following the Queen’s Speech, politicians from all parties debated the direction of the government in the year ahead.

Prime Minister David Cameron said that the Queen’s Speech showcased “a packed programme of a busy and radical government”, whose “long-term economic plan is working but there is much, much more to do”, and it would “take the rest of this Parliament and the next to finish the task of turning our country around”.

Labour leader Ed Miliband said: “We would have a Queen’s Speech with legislation which would make work pay, reform our banks, freeze energy bills and build homes again in Britain. A Queen’s Speech which signals a new direction for Britain, not one which offers more of the same.”

Cameron described Miliband as having a “rag bag, pick-and-mix selection of statist Seventies ideas [… a] revival of Michael Foot’s policies paid for by Len McCluskey’s money” — a reference to controversies surrounding the substantial funding Labour gets from trade union Unite.

Liberal Democrat president Tim Farron said of the Queen’s Speech: “I suspect the pensions proposals will be around for a generation or more and will be remembered. It’s about making sure they are fairer, cheaper, more secure, more reliable and potentially better for people.”

Plaid Cymru MP Elfyn Llwyd said: “This was an uninspired Queen’s Speech delivered by a government that has well and truly run out of steam.”

Angus Robertson, the leader of the Scottish National Party in Westminster, said the Queen’s Speech barely mentioned Scotland: “The absence of any mention at all of the Westminster parties’ plans for Scotland in the Queen’s Speech is extraordinary. […] In this – the year of the biggest opportunity in Scotland’s history – Scotland hardly even gets a nod at Westminster, and not a single mention of future plans for improving government in Scotland.”

The speech made brief mention of Scotland: “My government will continue to implement new financial powers for the Scottish Parliament and make the case for Scotland to remain a part of the United Kingdom.”

What Are Pipe Coatings And Their Numerous Benefits And Advantages}

What Are Pipe Coatings And Their Numerous Benefits And Advantages

by

James CampbellMetal pipes plus pipeline systems are being used everywhere. Their uses cover anything from plumbing to the transfer of fossil fuels. However, establishing an effective pipeline system demands more than simply connecting pieces of metal piping together. By way of example, a lot of pipes are offered bare, this means there are no protective coatings on the exterior or interior of the pipe. It’s of importance to safeguard this bare piping from damage, both externally and internally. This can be done by applying pipe coating. Pipe coating is often applied by professionals on site.

The best coating is a UV curable coating. These are usually epoxy-based coatings and may be sprayed on the pipe, which makes for quick application. After the coating dries, the UV barrier protects the piping from rust damage attributable to the elements. The all-weather protection in the coating protects the piping from corrosion. These coatings also provide other benefits.

When sprayed on the inside of the piping, the coating defends the interior from damage due to deposits, as well as preventing internal corrosion of the pipe. This heightens flow capacity of the pipe. Also, the coating smoothes out the pipe lining which raises flow under high pressure. When the inside of the pipe is not coated, the flow capacity will be less. This benefits one’s financial well being as well, for the reasont that higher flow capacity means greater productivity. Greater productivity indicates greater profits.

When the inside of a pipe is coated, the resulting increased flow capacity lowers some of the burden of the compressor stations and pumping. This means energy costs of the compressor and pumping are diminished, which helps you to save money. Piping using an internal coating may provide for a reduction in the size and capacity of compressor stations. Based on the type of piping system involved, the coating can be so effective to allow for the reduction in the number of compressor stations.

Mentioned above previously, the key goal of pipe coatings are to protect against corrosion. Corrosion from deposits or rust damage can greatly decrease the pipeline’s life span. Depending on the size of your operation, this might lead to high economic losses on account of multiple piping replacements. The time it’s going to take to replace the piping also triggers monetary loss, as the system is out of commission during replacement. Not only does pipe coating greatly slow the rate of corrosion, but it also cuts down piping repairs and replacements.

Metal pipes in addition to pipeline systems are widely used around the world. Their uses cover anything from plumbing to the transfer of fossil fuels. However, setting up an effective pipeline system requires more than simply connecting pieces of metal piping together. Such as, lots of pipes are sold bare, which means there are no protective coatings on the exterior or interior of the pipe. It’s of importance to safeguard this bare piping from damage, both externally and internally. It’s done this way by applying pipe coating. Pipe coating will likely be applied by professionals on site.

If you have a piping system, you should consider pipe coatings, such as UV curable

pipe coatings

. There are many companies found online that can apply the coating for a price. The price for the coating will vary from company to company, but the money you’ll save from fewer pipe repairs and replacements makes it worth the investment. For more information about

Saturn moon Enceladus may have salty ocean

Saturn moon Enceladus may have salty ocean

Thursday, June 23, 2011

NASA’s Cassini–Huygens spacecraft has discovered evidence for a large-scale saltwater reservoir beneath the icy crust of Saturn’s moon Enceladus. The data came from the spacecraft’s direct analysis of salt-rich ice grains close to the jets ejected from the moon. The study has been published in this week’s edition of the journal Nature.

Data from Cassini’s cosmic dust analyzer show the grains expelled from fissures, known as tiger stripes, are relatively small and usually low in salt far away from the moon. Closer to the moon’s surface, Cassini found that relatively large grains rich with sodium and potassium dominate the plumes. The salt-rich particles have an “ocean-like” composition and indicate that most, if not all, of the expelled ice and water vapor comes from the evaporation of liquid salt-water. When water freezes, the salt is squeezed out, leaving pure water ice behind.

Cassini’s ultraviolet imaging spectrograph also recently obtained complementary results that support the presence of a subsurface ocean. A team of Cassini researchers led by Candice Hansen of the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, measured gas shooting out of distinct jets originating in the moon’s south polar region at five to eight times the speed of sound, several times faster than previously measured. These observations of distinct jets, from a 2010 flyby, are consistent with results showing a difference in composition of ice grains close to the moon’s surface and those that made it out to the E ring, the outermost ring that gets its material primarily from Enceladean jets. If the plumes emanated from ice, they should have very little salt in them.

“There currently is no plausible way to produce a steady outflow of salt-rich grains from solid ice across all the tiger stripes other than salt water under Enceladus’s icy surface,” said Frank Postberg, a Cassini team scientist at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

The data suggests a layer of water between the moon’s rocky core and its icy mantle, possibly as deep as about 50 miles (80 kilometers) beneath the surface. As this water washes against the rocks, it dissolves salt compounds and rises through fractures in the overlying ice to form reserves nearer the surface. If the outermost layer cracks open, the decrease in pressure from these reserves to space causes a plume to shoot out. Roughly 400 pounds (200 kilograms) of water vapor is lost every second in the plumes, with smaller amounts being lost as ice grains. The team calculates the water reserves must have large evaporating surfaces, or they would freeze easily and stop the plumes.

“We imagine that between the ice and the ice core there is an ocean of depth and this is somehow connected to the surface reservoir,” added Postberg.

The Cassini mission discovered Enceladus’ water-vapor and ice jets in 2005. In 2009, scientists working with the cosmic dust analyzer examined some sodium salts found in ice grains of Saturn’s E ring but the link to subsurface salt water was not definitive. The new paper analyzes three Enceladus flybys in 2008 and 2009 with the same instrument, focusing on the composition of freshly ejected plume grains. In 2008, Cassini discovered a high “density of volatile gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as organic materials, some 20 times denser than expected” in geysers erupting from the moon. The icy particles hit the detector target at speeds between 15,000 and 39,000 MPH (23,000 and 63,000 KPH), vaporizing instantly. Electrical fields inside the cosmic dust analyzer separated the various constituents of the impact cloud.

“Enceladus has got warmth, water and organic chemicals, some of the essential building blocks needed for life,” said Dennis Matson in 2008, Cassini project scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

“This finding is a crucial new piece of evidence showing that environmental conditions favorable to the emergence of life can be sustained on icy bodies orbiting gas giant planets,” said Nicolas Altobelli, the European Space Agency’s project scientist for Cassini.

“If there is water in such an unexpected place, it leaves possibility for the rest of the universe,” said Postberg.

Learning To Trade Overnight Trading Range Breakouts

by

James Woolley

Trading breakouts is one of the most tried and tested methods of trading the forex markets because when the price breaks out of an established trading range, it often continues to move strongly in that direction. Therefore there are some excellent profits to be made.

There are lots of different ways you can trade breakouts. You can wait for a quiet period of the day for instance when the price is barely moving and is confined to a very narrow range, and wait for a breakout to take place, or you can use bollinger bands and wait for them to narrow because this often precedes a strong breakout. However in this article I want to talk about a particular strategy that involves opening ranges.

I’ve been experimenting with this strategy on the GBP/USD and EUR/USD pairs recently and it seems to work very well. What you basically do is to look at the opening hours between 00.00 and 06.00 GMT (or 08.00 if the price is still within this range up until this time) and draw two horizontal lines marking the high and low points for this period.

Then you simply wait for the price to break out and close above (or below) one of these lines and take a corresponding long or short position. This method works well when there is a narrow opening range and the reason it works is simple. Every pair has an average daily range (the GBP/USD is roughly 220 points and the EUR/USD is roughly 180 points according to 2008 figures) so if the opening range is a small fraction of this number, then you know that there are a lot of points to be made either above or below the current opening range.

It’s not a method that can be used every day on a certain currency pair because sometimes the price will move quite substantially in the opening few hours, but it’s well worth putting into practice when the opening range is very narrow.

There are various ways you can actually trade this system. You can either jump in as soon as the breakout bar or candle closes, or if you want to place the odds substantially in your favour, you can wait for an initial breakout followed by a pull-back into this trading range, then trade the subsequent breakout (if there is one) because this continuation pattern is a very profitable signal.

Either way you should find that these strategies (or variants of these strategies) are generally very effective because the price will very often move strongly out of this opening range at some point during the day.

Fifteen flu sufferers die in Wales in one week

Fifteen flu sufferers die in Wales in one week

Friday, January 14, 2011

Over the course of the last week, fifteen people who have suffered from influenza have died in Wales, as reported to the Welsh Assembly Government. The total amount of flu-related deaths in Wales since October 2010 has now increased to 27.

Despite the slight increase in the clinical consultation rate for influenza this week compared to the previous week, the rate of consultations for flu-like illness in Wales still remains within the levels of normal seasonal flu activity.

On Tuesday, 49 people were being treated in critical care beds in hospitals around Wales, according to health officials. With twelve reported admissions, Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board had the highest amount of critical care patients in Wales. Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board has the second highest total number of patients experiencing this critical care in the country, with eleven being cared for. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board have nine important care admissions each. Cwm Taf NHS Trust contains five of such patients, while Hywel Dda NHS Trust has three.

The age group of 25–34 years old had the largest amount of meetings with general practitioners; the rate of consultation was 147 people for every 100,000. For all age groups, 93 people out of every one hundred thousand have been consulting with a GP; on January 5, the total figure stood at 85 meetings per 100,000.

“Despite the slight increase in the clinical consultation rate for influenza this week compared to the previous week, the rate of consultations for flu-like illness in Wales still remains within the levels of normal seasonal flu activity,” said Dr. Tony Jowell, the Chief Medical Officer of Wales. “Most healthy people will recover from flu-like illnesses within five to seven days with plenty of rest and drinking non-alcoholic fluids. On the issue of vaccination against seasonal flu, whilst we have been working to make stocks of the vaccine that was developed against swine flu available to be used where supplies of seasonal flu vaccine have run low, we are now well into the flu season.”

According to Media Wales, 13 patients experiencing flu-related symptoms were getting treatment at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest on Tuesday. Meanwhile, five were receiving hospital treatment at Bronglais General Hospital in Aberystwyth. Also, Carmarthenshire NHS Trust in Llanelli and West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen both had a solitary patient.

Jowell also commented: “People in at-risk groups are at a higher risk of complications from seasonal flu, and the best protection is early vaccination. A press and publicity campaign has been running since October and has included television, radio and bus adverts to let people know if they are in an at-risk group, and that the vaccine is available free of charge to those groups from GPs. We have also encouraged health boards and GPs to ensure that their patients and front line NHS staff are vaccinated against seasonal flu.”

Throughout the United Kingdom, 62 individuals reportedly died in the last week, as the result of suffering from influenza. The majority of these victims were suffering from swine flu. In most of these cases, the sufferers were aged between 15 and 64. However, nine of the fatalities were of children aged below fourteen.

In February 2017, the Iranian Chess Federation announced two teenage chess players, Dorsa Derakhshani and her younger brother Borna Derakhshani, were banned from representing the national team. The federation announced their decision although Dorsa Derakhshani had previously decided and informed the chess federation she did not wish to play for Iran.

Dorsa Derakhshani is currently 21 years old and holds the International Master (IM) as well as Woman Grand Master (WGM) titles. Her brother, Borna, plays for the English Federation and holds the FIDE Master title.

Dorsa Derakhshani was banned since she did not wear a hijab, an Islamic headscarf, while competing at the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival in January 2017. Under the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran, hijab is a mandatory dress code. Her brother Borna Deraskhsani was banned for playing against Israeli Grand Master (GM) Alexander Huzman at the same tournament. Iran does not recognise the existence of Israel, and previously, Irani athletes have avoided playing against Israeli athletes.

Mehrdad Pahlavanzadeh, the president of the country’s chess federation, explained the decision to ban the players saying, “As a first step, these two will be denied entry to all tournaments taking place in Iran and in the name of Iran, they will no longer be allowed the opportunity to be present on the national team.” ((fa))Farsi language: ?????? ????? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?? ?? ???? ???????? ?? ?? ????? ? ?? ??? ????? ?????? ??????? ????? ??????? ? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??????? ????. Principles Of Human Resource Planning

October 19th, 2022 in Workplace Policy | No Comments

Sound human resource planning needs to be based on the principles and actions highlighted in the article below. In the practical world, an external human resource consultant or employment agency plays an important role in planning the basic requirements for human resource.1. Human Resource Planning has to be finally integrated into the other areas of the organizations strategy and planning.2. Senior management must give a lead in stressing its importance throughout the organization.3. In larger organizations a central human resource planning unit responsible to senior management needs to be established . The main objectives of this are to co-ordinate ans reconcile the demands for human resources from different departments, to standardize and supervise departmental assessments of requirements and to produce a comprehensive organizational plan. In practice, the Human Resource and Development department would normally play a leading role in the task . In smaller organizations these responsibilities would probably be carried out by a senior manager or even the managing director.4. The time span to be covered by the plan needs to be defined. Because of the abiding problem of making forecasts involving imponderable factors, a compromise is often adopted in which a general human resource plan is produced to cover a period of several years. If the system is operated as a continuous, rolling plan, the five year period of general forecasting is maintained and each first year is used in turn for purpose of review and revision for the future.5. The scope and details of the plan have to be determined. For large organizations separate human resource plans and forecasts may well be needed for various subsidiary units and functions. In smaller organizations one comprehensive plan will probably suffice for all employees. Where particular skills or occupations may pose future problems in recruitment or training, special provisions will be required in human resource planning.6. Human resource planning must be based on the most comprehensive and accurate information that is possible. Such personal information is essential in any case for the effective management of the organization. Details of format and contents will naturally vary, but they will normally need to include details of age, sex, qualifications and experience and of trends likely to effect future forecasts, such as labor wastage, charges in jobs, salaries, etc. Apart from the routine collection of data for personnel records, special analysis may sometimes be necessary to provide particular information
